Description:
The Gates Cambridge Scholarship program was launched in October 2000 with a transformative donation of US$210 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, marking the largest single donation to a UK university. Each year, the program awards approximately 75 full-cost scholarships to exceptional international students pursuing postgraduate degrees in any subject at the University of Cambridge. Around two-thirds of these scholarships are granted to PhD candidates, with about 20 available in the US round and 55 in the International round. In celebration of its 25th anniversary in 2025, the Trust will offer an additional 25 scholarships. The mission of Gates Cambridge is to build a global network of future leaders who are dedicated to improving the lives of others. The program supports its scholars through both financial and non-financial resources, facilitating community-building at Cambridge and beyond.
